Submit a review of Jenn Air
Jenn Aire Stove company was taken over by Maytag as a result of their expansion bids in 1982. The company had been
manufacturing indoor electric grills with stovetop ventilation systems. It then became the stove manufacturing
unit of Maytag which had been mainly producing domestic and commercial laundry machines. The Maytag line now
includes an extensive selection of washing machines, dryers, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, and refrigerators.
History of Jenn Aire
Maytag was founded in 1893 by Frederick Louis Maytag and three of his friends. They began with the production of
farm equipment such as threshing machine accessories and self-feeder attachments. In 1907, Maytag bought out his
partners and concentrated on stabilizing the reputation of his company. His innovative washing machine outdid the
competition on many levels. This was followed by more competitive ventures that soon set the company on solid
ground. By 1980, the company turned to expansion in a big way and acquired the Hardwick Stove Company and the
Jenn Aire corporation.
