Summary
Montgomery-Ward hasn't made refrigerators for a number of years. The company struggled financially, finally
resorting to bankruptcy in 2000. They run a small online store, but no longer sell appliances.
History
Aaron Montgomery Ward founded a catalog dry-goods business in 1872, in Chicago Illinois. The first
retail store opened in 1926, selling a variety of items including appliances. In 1985 the focus
shifted from catalog to store sales. Competition won out and at the end of 2000 Montgomery Ward
filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
