Gibson Refrigerators

Gibson is a brand of appliances owned by the Electrolux Group, a holding company of kitchen appliance brands. Refrigerators and freezers are no longer sold under the Gibson brand name, but continue to be sold under Frigidaire, the name of Gibson's corporate parent. Apparently refrigerators were sold under the Gibson brand name into the mid 1990s.

Gibson's History

Founded in 1877 by Joshua Hall as the Belding-Hall Corporation, the original operation manufactured wooden chests to hold ice. Frank Gibson, an early ice refrigerator maker, purchased the company in the early part of the twentieth century, thus the "Gibson" name. After several mergers and acquisitions, Gibson was bought by the Electrolux Group in 1986. Refrigerators are now manufactured under the Frigidaire brand name, and are sold by authorized dealers.
