History of Whirlpool
As a result of a failed business venture in 1908, Lou Upton bought the patents on hand washing machines and took
them to Michigan in 1911. The company was then called Upton Machine.
From 1911, production continued until the company faced the problems of the Great Depression which stopped
operations. In1929, the company merged with Nineteen Hundred Washer Company and became the Nineteen Hundred
Corporation. In 1945 the company began production once more, and in 1949, the name was changed to Whirlpool
Corporation. Today Whirlpool realizes annual sales of approximately $19 billion and has over 70,000 employees.
Dishwasher Products
Whirlpool produces two main types of dishwashers: portable and built-in. Within these categories, there are more
than 10 models to choose from. The portable line of dishwashers is available in black or white and uses either
the 3-level DuraWash™ or the 5-level Power Clean™ system. The built-in line has over eight
models in various colors and with features such as a tall tub and the PowerScour™ option for heavy duty
cleaning.
Most of the Whirlpool products carry the Energy StarŪ qualification which means that the dishwashers will conserve
energy and save money at the same time.

Whirlpool Warranty
Whirlpool offers a one-year limited warranty provided the dishwashers are maintained as instructed. Whirlpool will

All work will be completed by a designated Whirlpool service company.
