Waste King Dishwashers
Waste King is best known as a leader in the garbage disposal industry. Very little information is available on the
dishwasher line produced by Waste King, but the company apparently manufactured dishwashers in the 1960s and
1970s. In 1971, Waste King advertised a stainless steel dishwasher. Today, Waste King manufactures only garbage
disposals and hot water dispensers.
Waste King Company History
Waste King has been manufacturing garbage disposals since 1946. The company built its business by
focusing on developing a national network of plumbers, retail outlets, and restaurant and hotel dealers.
In 1994,
the Anaheim Manufacturing Co. bought Waste King. The Anaheim Manufacturing Co. dates back to the Whirlaway Co.,
which started in Los Angeles in 1958. In 1964, Whirlaway purchased the Tappan Co., which had recently purchased
Crystal Disposer Manufacturing Co. Whirlaway moved its operations from Los Angeles to the Crystal facility in
Anaheim, California, in 1966, giving way to a new company name, Anaheim Manufacturing Co.
