KitchenAid produces high-end dishwashers that range in price from $700 to $1600. There are two series in the
KitchenAid line of dishwashers - the Superba® Series and the Classic Series. These dishwashers have between three
and five wash cycles, including a high temperature cycle. All have a stainless steel tub and can fit up to 14
place settings. Most are CEE Tier II ENERGY STAR qualified, making them eligible for certain energy rebates.
KitchenAid's History
KitchenAid is a brand that was started by Hobart Corporation in 1919 with the invention of the tabletop mixer. The
success of the mixer led to the development of other appliances under the KitchenAid name. In 1946, KitchenAid
began selling dishwashers that utilized pressurized water to clean dishes, an innovative technology at the time.
In 1955, the company expanded its color selections of stand mixers. In 1986, the Whirlpool Corporation acquired
the brand. KitchenAid continued to expand its appliances, with the addition of refrigerators and stoves and ovens
to its line.
Special Features of KitchenAid Dishwashers
Several of KitchenAid's higher end dishwashers have a third tier culinary tool rack made especially for cooking
utensils. Several also have a Proscrub option, which engages several jets of water directly at dishes. KitchenAid
claims that this option makes it unnecessary to rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.
Warranty Information
KitchenAid dishwashers come with a limited one-year warranty that covers parts and repair of defects in
workmanship or materials that existed when the product was purchased. Nylon dish racks and electronic controls
are further covered by a five-year warranty. Stainless steel tubs have a lifetime warranty.
