Jenn Air Company History
The Jenn-Air Products Co. was founded in Indianapolis in 1947. At first the company made industrial fans, but in
1961, Jenn-Air incorporated their fans into a cook-top range. This was the creation of the first self-ventilated
downdraft range. From there, Jenn-Air broke into the kitchen appliance market. In 1982, the company was acquired
by the Maytag Corp., which was then bought out by the Whirlpool Co. in 2006.
