"Nice from a Distance"
We have Merillat cabinets not by choice, it was all we could get. We chose the Gourmet Kitchen option in our new home to get the best cabinets we could. What a disappointment! The quality is terrible, drawer glides cheap, particle board sides. I have purchased additional cabinets to match our existing units and they are even worse quality that those installed by the builder. Poor finish, damaged cabinets (even though the box was perfect so must have been damaged before it was packed) and just plain cheap. Oh, not the price just the quality. Cherry Cabinet uppers for $150 a foot after discount.

"After 27 years my Merillat cabinets took a beating"
I had Merillat cabinets & they took a beating over the 27 years we had them in our kitchen. When our kids finally moved out my wife & I decided to update out cabinets & countertop. We went with Merillat again after checking out some other brands. It was coming down to price & the Merillat Classic series did seem to give us our best bang for our buck. I still am very pleased with our new kitchen & expect to be for the next 27 years as I was before. I must comment to the previous post below me that all 4 cabinet brands we inquired did not allow changes or returns on our order since the said the were special order cabinets. The all explained to me as the cabinets were not stocked & were built from my order. I guess companies do not stock much as they used to & just build as ordered.

"Merillats return policy is you can't"
I have used Merillat cabinets several times and found them to be of sufficient quality. I will not be using them again due to their return policy. Accidently ordered the wrong color of some stock items to finish a project and the company refuses to exhange them. Seems I received what I ordered so too bad for me. They would however be willing to sell me more cabinets in the correct color.

"Cherry Wood Cabinets"
We have owned our Cherry Wood cabinets for over five years. We have the same cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. These cabinets have been very sturdy and dependable. The outside is lovely and well made, and the inside is sleek and functional. Our cabinets have roll out drawers which we love. They also have very roomy drawers. The only thing I would change about the cabinets is I wish they had the auto closing feature so that when it is left open or ajar, it closes itself. They clean very easily too. We have had to replace two cabinet doors that broke from wear and tear which I don't think was the cabinets fault. They were a little expensive to replace and the coloring was different since they are real wood cabinets, but Merrillat was very helpful with the repair and was quick with sending the pieces. I would definitely recommend this brand to a family member or friend.

"My cabinet review"
I have recently had Merillat cabinets installed in the kitchen of my home and couldn't be more pleased. I have loved them from the day I got them. I really like the look of the cabinets. They appear to be made of great quality. The rich textures really bring out the cabinets true quality. I think they are a very good brand with a great reputation. They are very smooth and easy to open and close. I would definitely reccommend these cabinets to anyone looking for a great kitchen cabinet. I looked into a bunch of different brands while I was shopping for the perfect cabinets and these stood out to be bar none compared to the other brands out there. They are worth every penny and you will not be disappointed. I have had absolutely no problems with them since the day I got them. I have had them for about six months now and I plan to have them for as long as I live in this house.

"A Solid Value"
We have owned our house and cabinets now for approximately 4 years. The cabinets look very nice int he kitchen and they do not have any signs of wear. The cabinets are made from Oak and the bottom cabinets feature slide out drawers...this is one of the nicest features of the cabinets. Additionally, when we purchased these cabinets we had to choose between about eight different facade designs. This is a nice aspect of the cabinet as they can be somewhat customized. Recently we had to replace two screws that were holding on the doors to the lower cabinets as the hinges became loose. Once we replaced the old screws with longer screws, the hinges worked fine. I would definitely recommend this cabinet brand as it is a great value and incredibly durable. We have two children that constantly pound on the cabinets and scrape toys against the wood facades. We have yet to refinish the fronts of any of the cabinets.

"Merillat Cherry Cabinets are Great!"
I have owned my Merillat cherry cabinets for 4 years. They are really attractive and I get compliments on them all the time. They are a lovely color and the stain really brings out the grain in the wood in an attractive way. The knobs are stainless steel and they are easy to open and close. There is a corner section with a rotating tray that is great for holding pots and pans. I have never had any problems with them- the drawers pull out smoothly and the cabinets still look great after four years. I have never had to repair anything about the cabinets. I would absolutely buy this same brand again. The only problem I have had with them is that the end panels are not solid cherry, they are veneer, and my dog scratched through the veneer. You could probably buy the cabinets with a solid wood end panel and this wouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, I am thrilled with the cabinets.

"And 10 years later..."
I had oak cabinets installed 10 years ago, holding up nicely, the wood parts..But what in the world were you thinking when the photo finish ends were added to beautiful oak. Would like to install this in your home, LOOK LIKE CRAP now. Any advise how to have the ends of your cubbords finished with real wood.

"I would like to backdate my Merillat kitchen"
I love Merillat cabinets. I installed your European Series in my ranch home in 1984/85. I am sure it is still there. Now I have an old farm house built in the early 1900s the kitchen has been remodeled with your oak cabinets. My question is how can I make them look like they came with the house. These cabinets are very traditional/contemporary butdo not fit the period of the house. I would like to put a tin ceilingin the kitchen but I don'tknow how to backdate the cabinets. I intend to replace the counter but I would like to keep the cabinets. Should I paint them? Hardware? What do you suggest. Thanks, Diane
