"Kitchen cabinets"
Bought the Brookhaven kitchen cabinets in 1961 including lazy Susan's. Installed them ourselves. There still in use today. Great quality. No problem.

"Great cabinets"
We put brookhaven cherry cabinets i. Our kitchen remodel. Great looking, fabulous quality. Unmatched hardware. Just make sure you have a contractor who "measures twice, cuts once." A lot of problems with cabinets are due to installation, in my experience.

"Still looking good after 24 years"
Just happened across this site when I was looking for the details on our cabinets now that we are preparing to sell our house. The Brookhaven cabinets in a natural maple finish have held up very very well. I would be surprised if a new owner felt the need to change them out as the only light wear is around the handles, but you never know. There has been some change in the wood color as happens with any wood product exposed to light, but the change is very uniform. Most of the interior accessories such as corner lazy susans still work smoothly and look brand new. The trash basket sliders ultimately rusted and needed replacement for looks, but they are located between the sink and dishwasher so have lived in a humid area. My one disappointment has been the plastic pieces that support the pull out drawers. They are not nearly strong enough and most have cracked and sagged. Yes, I put a lot of heavy stuff in those drawers but no one said they were only for light duty! The drawers still do slide OK but the plastic is cracked and sags downward. I've replaced some of them but they broke also. So don't buy these if you intend to stack dishes in them, for instance.

"Great cabinets"
My contractor recommended these cabinets which I purchased from a dealer who designed my kitchen. The cabinets are perfect. I've had them for two years and they look new. I upgraded to get all msple boxes. I'm thrilled with the quality of the cabinets and love their classic design.

"Quality control issues"
I recently renovated my kitchen and installed Brookhaven cabinets. The cabinets themselves are fine. To my surprise, however, there were a half-dozen quality control issues. 1. Inexplicably, the shipment did not contain all the cabinets, something Wood Mode neglected to tell us. It took several weeks after the scheduled delivery date for everything to show up. 2. Several doors were damaged, in shipping I suppose. These had to reordered. 3. Several drawer fronts were incorrect and had to be ordered again. Once again, several weeks elapsed. 4. One end panel on the island was mounted upside down. My contractor had to take it apart and reinstall it correctly. These problems were all resolved in the end, but with no explanation or apologies from Wood Mode. I find it amazing that a company with such a good reputation could be so slipshod in its order process.

"Not what we were told"
We remodeled our kitchen and installed Brookhaven cabinets about 12 years ago. They are painted white maple cabinets. When we purchased them, through a company that has since gone out of business, we were told there was a lifetime warranty on them and the representative, who has four kids, said she'd had her cabinets repainted a few times because her kids were so hard on them and she'd never had any problem with the company. Several years ago I noticed the frame around one cabinet door had little one inch splits in it. I guess it was still under warranty because the store we took it to ( not where we purchased them ) said that should never happen and they fixed the problem for free. Now we have several cabinets with small splits in them, a few have actually warped, and we need to have most of them repainted because the area around the handle and the edges have normal wear and tear. The store we previously went to said they are no longer under warranty and they can't do it for free. It 's very hard to contact Wood-mode/Brookhaven because I can't find a phone number and the only way to contact them is by filling out a form online and hoping they call me. What does one do if one doesn't have internet or a computer? I'm seriously thinking of just going with the cabinet maker we used for our garage conversion who made beautiful cabinets for the kitchen area in the new granny's quarters. It seems the older I get and the more I have to deal with big companies, I prefer just to go with small, reliable, trustworthy independent shop owners who have good reputations. They tend to stand behind their work and are easier to get a hold of.

"Terrible customer service"
I have spent 6 months trying to get a cabinet door replaced that arrived damaged. I paid the full amount for my cabinets and I have yet to get the replacement door despite the Northwoods Kitchen representative promising me it was ready to ship every time I call. I would never order cabinets from here again. Do not take a chance with this company. You will spend a very long and frustrating time trying to get what you ordered and payed for... I am not sure I will ever get the door. not worth it.

"Love my white kitchen"
Put in my kitchen in 2013 or 2014. They look as good as new. We have a beautiful all white painted kitchen with upgraded cabinets. Everything works perfectly and has held up. They feel and look as solid as the day they were installed. Cabinets came with a lifetime warranty.

"Excellent cabinets"
I just had these cabinets installed in my kitchen. I ordered the upgrade with plywood boxes and drawers. They are white painted wood in a traditional panel design. The construction is great, and the drawers and insets are well-planned. I love the corner cabinet pullouts, which I use for pots. The cabinets were perfect, arrived on time and were installed with no glitches. I have a small kitchen, and the space really works. I would highly recommend these cabinets, although they are expensive.

"Not built to last"
We bought Brookhaven cherry cabinets that we thought would last for many years in 2001, however that is not the case. We have had one cabinet door front split lengthwise, cracked into two pieces. Another pullout door is also splitting across it's width on the inside bottom panel. They did not split Where two pieces join together, as in coming unglued, but the wood itself split. Neither of these drawers were stressed in the places they broke. The finish on some of the cabinets has been unsatisfactory and my efforts to contact a Brookhaven rep have gone unanswered, as well as an attempt by the designer to contact them on my behalf. The finish is sticky and tacky, and impossible to clean. The little bit of dish soap and warm water they recommend does not clean the finish sufficiently. The worst cabinet fronts with stickiness are the trash/recycle pullout and the drawer right above that. I have never in my 60 plus years of living had any kitchen cabinet doors split like these have, and I have lived in some homes with very old cabinets. Perhaps the wood used (cherry) was not cured properly. I am in a quandary as to whether I should attempt to paint over the formerly lovely cherry finish or simply remodel (again) using a better quality cabinet.

"Corrections on Brookhaven Cabinetry Features"
As an update, Brookhaven does remain the lower price-point line of Wood- Mode cabinetry, however, it is also fully custom and now offers a lifetime warranty, as well. In response to some of the previous reviews... Some instances reported as finish issues are simply due to normal wear around the cabinet handles over the years. Simply cleaning the handles along with the areas around them often does the trick. Both Brookhaven and Wood-Mode cabinetry is actually very easy to clean. A very small drop of your favorite mild dish soap diluted in warm water works well. Use a soft cloth and remember to wipe the cabinets dry at the end. Another thing to keep in mind for both cleaning and issues described as yellowing of the finish over time is proper ventilation. Without one, grease from cooking oils gets deposited as yellow film on the cabinets, not only ones surrounding the cooking area but throughout the entire kitchen. Make sure you have ventilation in place that is appropriate for the type of cooking equipment and your cooking style. Remember to activate ventilation early enough, ideally 1-2 minutes on the lowest setting before you start cooking and not after the fumes have started spreading into adjoining areas. Also, while it is simply impossible to completely avoid changes in yellowing of white finishes over time, due to UV exposure, Wood-Mode cabinetry remains true to its original finish a lot longer thanks to its catalyzed baked-in finish and special additives with UV filters. A drastic change in a white (opaque) finish after just five years does not sound right. Again, you may want to contact your designer/ dealership and explain the issue. They will be able to help you compare your current finish color to the original sample, determine just how far off the two may be, and find a solution. Lastly, regarding situations like multiple replacements, an unfinished project, and hinges issues, Wood-Mode stands by its lifetime warranty and takes product quality and customer service very seriously. They would definitely want to know about those instances. Please, let the dealer/showroom you were working with know about the issue you are dealing with or call Wood-Mode for your nearest area rep to let them know about it and they will take care of you.

"Don't buy these cabinets"
I remodeled my whole kitchen with Brookhaven Cherry Cabinets ($20,000). Impossible to clean. The finish comes off or has spots all over them. Even used what was suggested in the manual that came with them. Will never buy that product again.

"A Little Expensive, but Nice Appearance"
When remodeling the kitchen in my house, I came to the realization that my cabinets were in desperate need of replacement. A leak in the adjacent window had allowed water to seep in during one winter, and therefore the wood in several of the cabinets was rotting. I ended up selecting Brookhaven cabinets, and getting a laminate version that looks like cherry wood. For the most part, I have been very pleased with my cabinets. They are practically identical to the genuine cherry cabinets that I had previously owned, and do a far better job resisting scratches and dents than the ones made of real wood. The handles that initially came with the cabinets seemed a little too formal and outdated, so I opted to install more modern ones, but this was an entirely optional and relatively simple improvement. I have never had to deal with repairs or replacements, and they are very easy to clean. I would recommend this brand to those desiring a happy medium between appearance and functionality.

"Cleaning suggestions?"
Brookhaven Cabinets were already in our home when purchased two years ago. The cabinets are in good shape structurally however they are impossible to clean. They have a stained yellow tint to them now. I've tried everything to clean them and they won't come clean. We haven't tried painting them yet though. If anyone has any suggestions for cleaning, I would greatly appreciate it.

"Kitchen drawer door fell off"
I love the looks of my Brookhaven cabinets. I used this in my kitchen and pantry. One glitch: I pulled the drawer open this morning and held the door in my hand. Do we need to glue the door to the drawer as well as the screws?
